Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Doom Eternal - essential game releases

News about the release of two quite different games: Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Doom Eternal
It might be hard to imagine more different games than these two, and still, they have something in common. Both were released on the same day, March 20, 2020, and both were highly anticipated by the gaming community. Also, these games offer a kind of portal for gamers to distract attention from the surrounding pandemic - this factor is a primary one for adding information about Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Doom Eternal in one post as essential for many players.

So let’s take a closer look at them.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons - life on a remote island

This game series has lots of dedicated fans, but for many players, the success of Animal Crossing is such a mystery. The game has neither thrilling plot to follow nor powerful actions to prove your exceptional skills. Here we have a calm, colourful game about funny animals and cute people who build their houses and decorate their towns. The playing process is based on collecting various materials, crafting with them various objects, and placing those objects whenever you like to. Some things should be purchased in local shops. Some things can be obtained through trades between players. Collecting resources and customizing the virtual environment may continue for years.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the newest addition to this popular series. It has lots of differences from the previous game (AC: New Leaf for Nintendo 3DS), such as starting on an empty island instead of having a basic town. The most obvious improvement is technical - AC: New Horizons is available on Nintendo Switch, so the visuals here are much more beautiful.

This game was planned for release in October 2019, but Nintendo took their time to polish the product. As a result, Animal Crossing: New Horizons appeared at the best possible moment - when so many people need an escape to carefree virtual paradise. Nintendo even offers a special Switch to do so.

Doom Eternal

This game is typical for its series, but the series is so immensely different from the relaxed cuteness of Animal Crossing. Doom is all about shooting awful demons that invade the world. That was the core of the very first game from 1993, of Doom II from 1995, and also of many other instalments. And this is the core of the newest game Doom Eternal, released for PC, PS4, and Xbox One (with the Nintendo Switch version planned for the future).

It’s a direct continuation of Doom from 2016, which is a reboot of the series. Still, you don’t have to know anything special for playing Doom Eternal - just grab the gun and start shooting. The game is filled with monsters and it gives lots of weapons to destroy the evil creatures. The developers succeeded in motivating players to build their strategy and try out many different firearms for different demons, so the game doesn’t become repetitive in its bloody action.

Doom Eternal was planned for November 2019 but this game was postponed as well. It’s a totally different type of escape from reality - to a dangerous adventure, where you have no time to relax and distract your mind. Probably, for some players, such gaming is much better in the middle of the pandemic situation.
